Fixing Brassy Nasty Hair With Naturtint

I should start by explaining how I got to the point that I wanted to dye my hair brown again. For the longest time I wanted blonde hair. As a natural brunette, I decided the safest option was to hop on the ombre/balayage train, and so, two years ago I bought Bleach London’s Beach Lights kit and kind of winged a D.I.Y ombre and to my amazement it actually came out grand and most people around me loved it. However, because of my natural brown hair my hair got brassy very quickly. For the past two years, I’ve been in and out of hair dressers asking for ashy ends but time and time again (and for ridiculous prices), I was never satisfied with the result.

Another downside to going to hairdressers apart from the money is that god only knows what products they’re using and for someone who doesn’t support animal cruelty in other aspects of her life, the thought of wearing a cruel product on the top of my head everyday horrifies me! I tried making my own toners using manic panic and conditioner but that turned my hair green (ye).

To be honest, I got so sick of touching it up, toners and upkeep of unnatural brassy hair. I wanted my brown hair back (mainly because of Beauty and the Beast not going to lie). Don’t get me wrong my balayage and I had some good times but I want something that will be less maintenance.

On Saturday I ventured into my local Health store and bought Naturtint Hair Dye. I bought the shade Dark Ash Blonde because I was warned when going back to brown don’t buy brown dye (it'll be too dark).

This could of gone so wrong because there's a SERIOUS lack of reviews online for vegan hair dye but I'm so chuffed with how it turned out.

Prepare to be horrified at the state of my BEFORE hair :

Naturtint smells divine might I add, doesn't smell toxic at all and it is free from ammonia, resorcinol, parabens, DEA, SLS, mineral oils, paraffin and silicones and of course is vegan and cruelty free. It was only 13 euro which I know is expensive for box dye but I'd rather spend an extra 2 or 3 euro than pay for ingredients that have been tested on animals.

The result after using Naturtint:

Naturtint managed to get my hair to pretty much one colour. In person the ends look kind of blue in some lights but that's to be expected when applying ashy tones to hair that's already been toned a million times.

The shampoo and conditioner that comes in the box is so effective in repairing damaged hair and it didn't feel 'producty' at all after drying.

I would definitely recommend Naturtint for those looking for an alternative to other box dyes.
